In July 2022, the BIPT published a study on the evolution of the broadband and television markets in Belgium since 2018, including a section on prices for fixed and convergent residential telecom services.
This Communication provides an update on the evolution of residential prices of fixed internet and bundles by identifying those applicable until January 2024 and in particular the minimum price that private individuals have to pay to meet specific telecom needs.
The analysis shows that prices for fixed internet subscriptions that are purchased alone ("standalone") or together with a mobile subscription have remained stable or even decreased over the past five years.
However, consumers pay significantly more for the larger convergent bundles that include television and mobile telephony, which are the most popular among customers. Bundles without a mobile component, which are purchased by about a quarter of Belgian customers, have also followed a negative trend from the consumer's point of view.
