The BIPT hereby announces that it will be organising a workshop on the 800 MHz spectrum award. The objectives of the workshop are:  to give an overview of the available spectrum and the award process; to present the key features of the auction rules; and to host a question and answer session. The workshop will be on 10 September, 2013, at the BIPT premises starting at 2.00pm and expected to finish at 5.30pm. For logistical purposes, interested parties are requested to register via email to Ms Françoise Gilles or Ms Brigitte Wayembergh at freqadmin@bipt.be (tel. + 32 2 22 68 878 or + 32 2 22 68 879).  The deadline for registration is 4 September, 2013, at 4.00pm.

As requested by Vice Prime Minister Johan Vande Lanotte, Minister of Economy, Consumers and the North Sea At the request of Vice Prime Minister Johan Vande Lanotte BIPT has made a price comparison for telecom products in Belgium. The price comparison was made on 3 June and pictures the price differences between the telecom operators' cheapest tariff plans in the following market segments on that date: mobile postpaid and prepaid calls, fixed telephony, fixed Internet and triple play bundles.

This memorandum provides a synthesis and an overview of the standing regulation with regard to the auction of 800MHz-licences. However it should be clear that the Electronic Communications Act (ECA), the Royal Decrees and any other Belgian or European legislation relevant in this matter take precedence over any interpretation contained in this memorandum.

Brussels, 1 July 2013 - Today BIPT publishes the Information Memorandum (IM) for the award of spectrum licences in the 800 MHz band, to be used to deliver next-generation (4G) mobile broadband services. This document details, amongst other things, the terms associated with the licences, including incentives available to new mobile operators, and the auction format. It is available on the website www.auction2013.be and is aimed at potential applicants and may be used by them for information purposes to consider their possible participation in the auction.
