The BIPT warns against telephone calls in which an individual claims to be a BIPT official. In some cases it is a recorded message.
In both cases the caller tells a confused story of an alarming nature in order to prompt the interlocutor to follow his guidelines.
If this happens to you, there is only one way to react:
do not reveal any information and hang up.
do not reveal any information and hang up.
The BIPT is responsible for the electronic communications market, the postal market, the electromagnetic spectrum of radio frequencies as well as certain audiovisual media services and video-sharing platform services in the bilingual Brussels-Capital Region.
Except on very rare occasions (you are the holder of a radio licence, you have an appointment for a test, ...) the BIPT does not contact private persons by telephone.
A few tips:
- Beware of unsolicited calls;
- If possible, jot down the caller’s number, but do not use the number the caller has given you.
