Brussels, 21 January 2020 – In its decisions of 14 January 2020, BIPT imposed a € 150,000 fine on Proximus and a € 88,782 fine on Telenet for non-compliance with the regulation regarding the prior identification of end-users of prepaid cards. Several controls carried out by BIPT in 2018 revealed that certain points of sale of Proximus and Telenet did not always properly identify end-users. Previously, Lycamobile was also imposed two fines for non-compliance with the same regulation.
