As of 2019, postal operators providing cross-border parcel delivery services within Europe have to comply with the obligations resulting from the new EU Regulation 2018/644 of 18 April 2018 on cross-border parcel delivery services. In accordance with Article 6 of this Regulation, BIPT shall assess the bpost rates considered in order to identify those tariffs that it considers to be unreasonably high.

Carrying out a tariff comparison helps consumers see which services best suit their real needs.

The BIPT has been tasked by the legislator with the monitoring of the compliance with several obligations imposed on bpost. From that point of view an inspection took place at the end of 2021 of a sample of services of general economic interest.

Since 2012, BIPT has a thorough survey carried out about the perception of consumers on the functioning of the electronic communications market in Belgium. The survey makes it possible to assess the level of information of the consumers, as well as the impact of the measures taken to regulate the electronic communications market. The survey results are reported annually.

This communication replaces the communication of 24 May 2018 in order to comply with the CEPT regulation (ECC Decision (19)03 — Harmonised usage of the channels of the Radio Regulations Appendix 18 (transmitting frequencies in the VHF maritime mobile band), which provides for a “cleaning period” to ensure the end of analogue voice telephony on those channels.
