You must register via a GMDSS examination centre.

The practical exam takes place on the equipment used by the candidate during his or her training.

There is a €73.39 registration fee, which is non-refundable.

In case of an annulment more than one week before the exam or upon presentation of a medical certificate, the registration fee can be moved to another date.

To pass, one must obtain 50% of the points for each subject and 60% in total. No exoneration will be granted for the practical part.

In case of a re-examination, an exemption is only granted for the theoretical parts for which the candidate obtained 70% or more and if the candidate does so within one year after the original examination.

In the event of a re-examination, the practical part must always be redone.

  • Price surveys

    Pages
Once or twice a year, BIPT paints a “picture” of the applicable rates on the residential market for electronic communications services. Each year since 2012, BIPT carries out a comparative price study of telecommunications products in Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Since 2012, BIPT has a thorough survey carried out about the perception of consumers on the functioning of the electronic communications market in Belgium.
  • Bundles

    Pages
A bundle or pack is a commercial offer including at least two separate telecommunications services. There is no single answer to “is a bundle more advantageous?”
  • Comparing offers with a tool

    Pages
To see the whole range of offers proposed by providers which are active on the Belgian residential market, the BIPT created a free online tool enabling you to compare tariffs. Besttariff.be gathers all the existing tariff plans in a correct and neutral manner. Everything is checked by the BIPT. Choose your service and specify your postcode as well as the maximum budget. Then choose between a manual or an automated search. Based on these data, we will calculate the most advantageous offer to you, including add-ons and promotions. After a few clicks, you will then get an overview of the different tariffs suited for you. Moreover, this tool allows you to simultaneously display and compare up to five plans of your choice. Concerning telephony, your operator must indicate once a year in the invoice which tariff plan among all its offers would be most advantageous to you. In addition, you can ask your provider to indicate which tariff plan, of all the plans it offers, would suit you best. The provider has to answer within two weeks at the latest.
