May I stamp my letter using old stamps the value of which is still expressed in Belgian francs?

oude postzegels

Yes you may but only using stamps issued after 2 October 1961. To this effect you need to use the equivalent of the current tariff expressed in euros for stamps purchased per piece and multiply this tariff with 40.3399.

For instance: the tariff for a standardised non-prior item in Belgium amounts to 0.95 EUR (from 1 January 2019) if the stamp is purchased per piece. If you wish to stamp this item with postal stamps the stamp value of which is in Belgian francs, you need to affix an amount of a minimum value of 38.5 Belgian francs on the letter.
