Pursuant to Article 107, § 3, of the Act of 13 June 2005 on electronic communications, operators providing number-based interpersonal electronic communications services must ensure uninterrupted access to emergency services.
Following the public consultation from 19 October 2023 to 19 November 2023 on the draft royal decree on the obligation of redundant conveyance of emergency calls, it appears necessary to further specify the redundancy obligation to be implemented by the operators referred to in Article 107, § 3, to provide for a mechanism for the designation of operators who will be jointly responsible for providing a redundancy solution and reimbursement of costs incurred for this purpose.
In order to meet these objectives, the draft bill annexed hereto is subject to this public consultation at the request of the Minister of Telecommunications.
